It is my great pleasure to announce the arrival of the new auction site Guild Wars Auctions!!!

What is Guild Wars Auctions?
The site has been bult over the past few weeks and is almost ready to open it's doors. It is a fully integrated auction site built to serve Guild Wars players. Unlike other auction sites I wont mention, Guld Wars Auctions doesn't have slow loading issues, buggy interfaces, or complicating listing and search functions...it's simple, easy to use, and best of all it's completely FREE!

When can we access it?
The website is currently turned "off" to the general public while we finish up our testing. We intend to begin the launch on June 21nd (Saturday) where we will open our doors exclusively to the [KISS] alliance, shortly followed by the global Guild Wars community in the coming weeks.

I know many people are eager to see the new auction site and we've received numerous requests over the past few weeks asking when it will be done...rest assured the end is near! All that remains to be done is to allow a select few people to access the site early and conduct some User Acceptance Testing, commonly known as UAT.

Can I get a sneak peek?
There is one thing we need to do this week before our launch: we need people to volunteer to help us "test" the site from a user perspective. Testing volunteers will be given immediate access to the site and will be able to create test listings, feedback, or use any other part of the site prior to it's official launch. We will monitor a log of each testers activities on the auction site (via their IP address) in order to ensure things work properly and see what our testers are working on.

These people will be responsible for identifying bugs within the system and report them back to us in a constructive manner. I will also be keeping track of how many bugs each of our testers find, whether they are spelling mistakes, glitches, or cosmetic errors. I intend to give a prize to the best and hardest working testers, so your time will be well spent!

How do I sign up to be a tester?
If you would like to be one of our testers this week, please reply to this thread. I don't need any other information from you, a simple "yes I'll do it!" is enough. If at any time you loose access, you can simply post a reply again saying you need to be re-given access.

When you have been given access, I will put your name into the Testers list below. When you see that I have added your name to the testers list, it means you have access to the site. Simply go to www.guildwarsauctions.co.uk and register a new account to start testing!

What things should I test?
Here are some hints and guidelines about the things you should try to test:

Try to use swear words in your listings or feedback and tell me about any that don't get "filtered" into something else.

Try to post lots of new listings: edit them, delete them, buy things off other testers, leave feedback for each other (try to swear in the feedback you leave and let me know if anything gets through).

Use the "forgot password" function.

Do silly things you can think of like: try to sign up more than once with the same email address or register with a really really long username or something silly.

Generally try to break things. Think like someone who is trying to make a mess of the site and just go for it! If you find anything that you think is an error/bug/security risk then let me know.

If a significant number of errors/bugs are found, depending on the severity, we may delay our launch slightly to fix things before going live.

Bunny I'm not sure as to how to communicate my findings.

First thing that catched my eye (just minor thing):
Page: terms of use
In between the 14th and 15th term there is no empty line.

On the page "contact us" I think it would be nice if the email adresses would be 'clickable' and start your email programme with the chosen adress already in the "to" bar.

I tried to add a photo when listing an item and I got two errors there.

The item I was listing: Johon Longbow - normal auction

1. When I tried to add a picture using an url I was on this page . When I right click the picture and choose "copy link" (ít's in Dutch so I'm not sure what it would be in English) I get the next error:

The photo data you have tried to send to us has been corrupted, did not reach us, or was too large. Check the size of your photo and the limit we have established and try again. If this error persists please try another photo.

I'm not sure if that's actually a glitch, mb there is some reason for it to work this way. However when I first click on the picture and then get this page and right click and choose "copy link" there all is fine.
2. When I tried to add a picture with "browse" it went just fine and I saw this picture on the page. But when I clicked the text "delete picture" it didn't work, the picture is still there and I get the next page (listing approval page) and the picture is on that page too. However when I click there "edit photos" and delete it there it gets deleted like it's supposed to.

It's possible to write the words "fag" and "porn" in the description. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be possible, cuz I'm not native English, but I thought just to put it here to be sure Wink

And about the adding a photo thing... maybe you are so fast that it's already changed... but now when I put up a photo with browse I can't add more photo's I immediately go to the listing approval page without the possibillity to add more photo's first. I'm not sure if it's me...but I think I'm not doing anything different then before.

I'm not sure what happened but I was still listing this bow and when I decided right before you put it up definately to edit the listing details it got me to this page and suddenly the "minimum starting bid" went to 100,000 (I wrote 1000) and the "buy now price" went to 500,000 (I wrote 5000). I'm not sure what happened there yet, so I will try reproduce it little later.

I'm not sure if this is a glitch, but after listing an item (actually this one ) you can see that one photo is in the "photo section" on the bottom of the page twice, and I don't understand why. Mb it's supposed to be like that, but to me it doesn't seem logical. I'm sure I put it only up once.

At the final approval page there is the following text:

Once you click "Complete Listing" your listing will be placed on our site and you will only be able to edit or delete it up until the first bid is placed.

Then when I approved it I was able to delete it without someone making a bid. I guess that shouldn't be possible.
Then after that I clicked on "List an item" and I immediately go to "listing details" page and by default I get into the same category as before (so I see this on top: Category: Main > Bows > Green Bows > Green Longbows > Johon's Longbow)
And you can also edit it before any bids are made.

But imo it's good if you can change it or delete it before a bid has been made...so then better to change this text.

Using Images Links
Hey Pepper. The copying and pasting link thing is down to a wiki code issue, not a URL issue for the auction site. The only thing I would say is that it's not entirely polite to copy someone a link to a picture hosted on a wiki server and paste it into an auction listing....it's called stealing bandwidth and I'm not keen to encourage it so I may button it down before going live to stop people from doing it.

Delete Picture button:
Hrm...I just re checked the whole process and there isn't a delete picture button after you've uploaded the pictures. For me it just went straight to the approval page and I used "edit pictures" from there.

I tried place a bid on item 161 for 10,000 and I keep getting this error

We're sorry. The bid you entered contained unrecognizable data. Please reenter it.

However Chris has managed to do the same bid successfully scratch

Hmm, just tried accepting the maximum bid amount that is provided as a default which is 1,200 and I still getthe same error. Tried again for 100 gold but still get errors Sad

I can bid repeatedly against item 159 though, hmm, perhaps it's nows I'm an axe warrior so will not let me buy a bow Very Happy
